Why is it important to me for women to pursue STEM careers and mentorship opportunities.

Women are woefully undervalued and underrepresented in many STEM career areas. As women and men both have different perspectives on how they view life and problems, it is imperative that more women walk and join the STEM career path. Women’s perspectives and views will only increase the likelihood of new ways to solve problems. Problems that need to be solved vary from great to small and some problems have been around a long time. It is important to bring people from many walks of life as well as perspectives to solve problems as well as create new and exciting innovations.
As an entrepreneur, I have discovered there are many products out there to help the new entrepreneur with their humble beginnings to automate their processes. What many of these products tend to be lacking in is easy integrations or the lack of the right combination of features. This leaves many entrepreneurs having to cobble together many different systems to create an often somewhat clunky system that will do all the processes and work they need. Often these systems do not mesh so well and are also very buggy.
One of the things I would like to do is create an information system that does all the things that a fledgling entrepreneur needs to get their business off the ground without having to cobble together a bunch of systems. This system would be affordable, highly customizable depending on the industry, and easily expandable. This system should be easy to use and user-friendly for even the most technology-challenged users. The system should also be customizable so that a more technology-savvy person can customize it to their liking.
Mentorship for me should be about challenging me to try things that are outside of my comfort zone. Mentorship should also be about expanding my critical thinking skills as well as learning new ways to look at problems and the world in general. Mentorship should also be about growing as a person as well as growing my skills to a whole new level. Lastly, mentorship should be about creating a better world for tomorrow.
